My Grandma Sadie,
A Splendid Squirrel Lady

Picture
When Sadie Squirrel wakes up from a long slumber, she finds her beloved forests and fields replaced by urban sprawl, leaving only her own tree standing. She has no idea how this happened, but she knows that it is bad. This causes a menagerie of homeless animals to request asylum in her tree. She cheerfully agrees. Luckily, along with her furry, feathery, and scaly new friends comes a great idea—one that might just save the forests, and even the earth itself. She and her friends might be small and not as powerful as those who cut the forests down, but maybe—just maybe—they can still make a difference. After all, every tree and every forest begins with a tiny seed. Sadie just has to figure out a way to ensure that the seed gets planted.

My Grandma Sadie, a Splendid Squirrel Lady is a fun and colorful rhyming story that appeals to primary school children. It was written to capture their hearts and minds while amusing and entertaining them—giving them a sense of belief that their actions can make a difference in a world that, at times, can feel overwhelmingly large and complex.

What do I Give You, My Child?

Picture
What do we give our children?

Advice? Encouragement? A steady hand?
Freedom to wobble? A soft place to land?
A giant hug?

What Do I Give You My Child? is a lyrical journey through the stages of childhood to adulthood, reminding us that every stumble and fumble can become a stepping stone—and that even the messiest moments can be magical.
Inspired by Deborah’s three sons, each poem captures a snapshot in time. The collection offers the kind of wisdom that might come from stepping on LEGO block in the dark. It celebrates the imperfections, the hilarious happenings, and the miracles that help shape a grown-up.

As a tribute to her children—wrapped in sticky fingers, sprinkled with questionable decisions, and infused with parental improv (but baked with best efforts!)—this book blends their stories into one symbolic journey. It represents not only their shared path but also simmers into the mix, their chosen life partners. And the crown of the cupcake—the final swirl of a life lovingly stirred, are the grandchildren, those who are already baked to perfection, and those whose dough is yet to be mixed.
